Charlene and I just missed each other at the University of Southampton- I left just before she started. But I’ve seen her at many events over the years and it was always lovely to have a chat. She was one of the most capable people I’ve ever met, not only incredibly good at what she did but also warm, empathetic, fun and so encouraging of those coming up in the sector, especially women. It’s amazing, though not unexpected, what she and Sirin have been able to achieve through the IC- if anyone was going to be able to successfully establish a global professional community based on shared values during a pandemic, it’s those two! Her legacy will live on, not just in the IC but in the many, many lives she touched. Sending love and thoughts to her friends and family xx
